Atishi was sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21 at Raj Niwas. She has replaced AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal who resigned from the post, two days after his release from jail.

As the eighth chief minister of Delhi, senior AAP leader Atishi was administered oath by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Saturday at Raj Niwas. She is now Delhi's third woman chief minister after Congress' Sheila Dikshit and BJP's Sushma Swaraj.

AAP leader Atishi became the 17th woman chief minister in the country and the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi as she took oath on Saturday.

The BJP has dubbed Atishi as the 'new Manmohan Singh,' suggesting that her leadership in Delhi will be overshadowed by Arvind Kejriwal's influence.

The AAP leader is the third woman CM of the national capital after late Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. At 43, Atishi is also the youngest CM in Delhi’s history, surpassing Kejriwal, who was 45 when he first took office.
