Tenured professor Amy Wax will be suspended for one year, in a case that has tested the limit of academic freedoms and freedom of speech.

The University of Pennsylvania is suspending Amy Wax, a tenured law professor accused of making racist, sexist and homophobic remarks, for a year with half pay. It is a significant sanction but one that falls short of the firing that some students wanted.

The University of Pennsylvania Monday suspended a law professor who once said the country would be better off with “fewer Asians” and also called India a sh**hole country. Some had demanded for Amy Wax to be fired.
