Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spoke about Michael Cooper's contributions to the Showtime era of the Los Angeles Lakers as he enters the Hall of Fame.

The latest Los Angeles Lakers Showtime-era star to be named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is set to be feted in style come October.The Hall of Fame has revealed that 1987 Defensive Player of the Year Michael Cooper is set to be enshrined by five extant Hall of Famers with major Los Angeles ties.

Jerry West is about to be enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for a third time. He is in once for his playing career and once as a member of the 1960 USA Olympic team that won gold. This time, he is going in as a contributor for his work in NBA front offices.

While many teams have produced Hall of Famers, a select few franchises have been particularly rich with talent.

Michael Cooper was one of the cornerstones of the Los Angeles Lakers Showtime dynasty in the 1980s. He didn’t get the credit of some of the superstars like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or James Worthy,

Jerry West did just that. West, who passed away at the age of 86, played his entire 14-year NBA career for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Hall of Famer earned an All-Star selection every season he was in the league en route to racking up 25,

Even though Lakers great Jerry West passed away in June, he will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame yet again next month.

Three of Michael Cooper's Showtime Lakers teammates, as well as two other legends, will present him when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame.
